Title
Lily Pond Tribute to Monet
Artist
Claire Bull
Medium
Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
Description
This is a peaceful colourful vivid acrylic painting with mixed media on a large 48x48 gallery canvas using mixed media materials and Golden Open acrylics with gel mediums.
It has silver metallic paint in it which reflects the light and many layers of transparent paint.
My dog and I walk by the lily pond and the water with all the lily pads and bulrushes every day. She catches frogs and I sketch on the rocks and we love the water. I wanted to pay tribute to my favourite inspirational artist but I really only looked at his paintings and then put on the music and painted this without further reference as it is my interpretation and my own creation. I could never hope to compare to him but I want to celebrate his use of colour and my own love of colour in my painting.
This landscape is one of my very favourites and I had to stand on a ladder to create a lot of it (kinda scary when you see how I paint) I like to paint to music and kinda dance while I paint so the ladder was tricky. Enjoy the beautiful prints and cards. Original has sold.
Art available here through Fine Art America and divisions of their company. Watermark will NOT appear on purchased art. Thank you.

I love everything you have done here to convey the peaceful deep feeling of the lily pond (not when koi are in fish feeding frenzy in it). This has perfection. v/f

I don't even know what to say sometimes to your beautiful words, Carol - you make me smile and you are always so supportive - I was thinking about painting over this to change the colours and now with your comment, I will leave it - so wonderful what a few words can do and how you just absolutely made my entire day and evening and I thank you kindly again for that - You are awesome with your positive words and it means so much to hear from you - I really appreciate your input - Happy New Year to you !!!

My humble opinion, Claire, is you don't need to "compare" with Monet. Instead, you walk side by side with him. Each of you is offering us your own, unique, and exceptional talent to brighten our lives:>). There are paintings of yours that I would chose over some of those by Monet - art is such a personal thing! The colors here are (to use an over-used but appropriate word) AWESOME:>). When our son was little, he'd say to me, "If you love it so much, why don't you marry it!" A kid's way of saying they're bored with your fussing over something. Well - I could marry this - LOL! V/F

Wonderful to have so many positive comments on this one - thank you all!! It was tough to paint this (48x48 is large for me) and one of my favourites
