Sheep shearing is the process by which the woollen fleece of a sheep is cut off. The person who removes the sheep's wool is called a shearer. Sheep grow wool continuously. If they are not sheared at least once a year, they become very stressed and uncomfortable, especially when it is hot and humid. Shearing does not hurt the sheep; while not actually enjoying the process, the sheep benefit from having the fleece removed.

I remember these days. I got to go on one of those trips once in Wyoming. I thought branding calves was work. :o) Awesome capture.
