Description
The beautiful Birch and Aspen trees in the woods where I walk through the forest. I treasure these walks. If you can see the swirls up at the top, that is the rustling of the leaves. The wind makes the leaves flutter and the trees creak and talk. The forest floor is full of life and little creatures and moss and mushrooms and mud. It is amazing.
I try to paint from my imagination. So I walk through the woods and come back and paint what I remember. Thus these paintings are just my interpretation of what it is like. This was a bright sunny day and there was a clump of the Birch or Aspen trees all together like this.
I remember staring up to the sky to the very top branches and how they all bowed over together and formed an arch in the sky. And a leaf fluttered down. And my dog and I took that memory and walked.
I came home with that memory and this is what I created from it.
I have loved the Birch and Aspen trees since I was a little girl. My Nanna and I would walk through the island and search for lichen and moss and peel off a piece of bark and write our names on it and take it back to the cottage and prop it up on the windowsill. I think these trees remind me of her and our time together on Gloucester Pool but also they are very colorful. Even though they are "gray and white", that is not true to my eyes. I see so much colour.
I never could get the photography right on this one. So am offering as a card or 8 x 10 prints only. I have a digital version which is really clear and fun and a bit of play.

Did I thank you? oh it is so hard to keep up with this.. I just want to paint and create and make art but YAY I love your comments Carol and I am glad my trees are talking to you. Maybe we should come back as trees. You and me. Beside each other and grow and guide the others and just focus on the birds and the sky and the ZEN - I think we need that.
